Why I Always Buy Silver (it’s for you!)

So often we hear that there are times to buy and sell silver for a profit. This is all well and good but what about if you are not collecting or stacking for a profit but rather because you just love the coins? The problem I have with buying because of a market trend has to do with the word “why.”

Why is such an important word because we can derive intent using why. Many of us are reactionary to life and so “why” is often cultivated from an idea being told by some source. Maybe it was a commercial on a news program saying it is the best thing to curb inflation. Maybe it was a YouTuber who proclaims that this is the time where we are going to see metals move drastically.

History is a great teaching tool for us all but even with history we are using a metric of external forces to drive internal decisions like your “why” you want to buy silver. So why do I buy silver and why does the amount an ounce moves not matter much to me?

The answer is fairly simple. Because I have lived a life where the scariest things I could have imagined found me. I remember waking up after such tragedy thinking that if I live, even now, in spite of those horrible times, then not even death can shake me. This curse was also a blessing. It loosened the chains of societal norms and led me to be truly free for the first time.

This freedom is the reason I really do not care what the price of metals are… I seek silver coins because I love them. I love the history of them and will love sitting with my children and grandchildren one day and talk about the tragic history and beauty when looking at the Rwandan Okapi coin. I will cherish every moment I get to talk about the journey of the nation of South Africa when looking at a Krugerrand and I will most certainly love to see the light in their eyes when they say daddy, can we look at your coins again.

This is why I do it. I want to learn about so many culture and places in this great world so that in time, I can communicate those beautiful things to those who would listen. This being said, I challenged myself to only spend $100 a month on silver. This is an intentional choice to prove that anyone can enjoy this hobby and it is not all about timing a market. Maybe that gives me 5 coins when silver is low or maybe it gives me one ounce if silver does whatever some of our “experts” claim it will. The nominal amount means nothing to me. The beauty of the natural world and people highlighted in these coins will be where my value lies.

The markets will ebb and flow like the tide. Some days they may crash in a wave of destruction and some days we may witness a gentle lap upon the shoreline. Both are beautiful in their own respects but both are also comprised of the same material. So no matter how volatile the markets are, my path is $100. It is not a choice for me but for you. I could spend thousands which would feel good, but it would not do good because somewhere out there is someone who does not have thousands but may only have a pocket full of wishes. My YouTube channel and this website is for you. Start with whatever makes sense and stick with it after all, it is not the end…It is the journey that is worth talking about and when you are 90 years old looking back at your life, memories will be more valuable than just about anything.
